Same Hills, Different View!

Among the unique assets that Randolph and its residents enjoy, our view of the northern Presidentials must surely rank high. For many of us, the siting and configuration of our cottages and homes has been effected to put our particular outlook to best advantage. But some time back, when Pat and Laurie Archambault came by for a visit on our porch, Pat remarked that he’d never before seen the view from where we sat. During our recent seasons of quarantine and isolation, as we slowly welcomed friends and neighbors back to our porch, we found a similar observation expressed; our view differed from theirs, and it was a treat to see the difference. At our winter residence in Key West it’s often said that one can’t tell from the street what treasures lie behind the gates of our houses. The Garden Tours of Key West, and Arts & Eats events were born from this realization, and provided some of the inspiration for the idea of Porches of Randolph. We felt it impolite in years past to directly mention this, but questions and concerns have been raised about what Porches is and who pays for it. So in the interest in transparency alone and not to seem like we are tooting our own horn: We are NOT a non-profit; Keith and I privately fund all operating and advertising expenses every year since its inception. From website hosting, markers, pens, name badges, signage, thank you gifts for hosts, etc we spend roughly $500 a year keeping it operating.  100% of your donations donations at porch parties go towards the beneficiaries. No percentage of your donations goes towards supporting operations.  Further, we do not receive any funding from any organization including the Randolph Foundation. The Foundation had agreed to merely serve as the fiduciary in collecting the donations and distributing it to the various beneficiaries. So if you're the treasurer of one of these organization the check you receive will say its from the Foundation and hopefully there's a note in the memo field that says its because of Porches. We love this community. We don't want any money back. All we ask: just keep coming and being engaged.
